Altar Servers Young people who are in the 4th grade and up are eligible to be Altar Servers. Their main duty is to assist the priest at Mass. Servers are taught what to do and then scheduled for the weekend Masses, usually beginning by working with more experienced servers. Young people interested in becoming Altar Servers are always welcome and needed. Eucharistic Ministers Eucharistic Ministers distribute Communion at all weekend Masses. They are scheduled on a rotating basis from a list of volunteers. Eucharistic Ministers are reverent, prayerful people, who reflect their own awareness of the ministry they perform. Lectors Lectors read from Scripture at each of the weekend (and weekday) Masses. They are scheduled on a rotating basis. Training is provided. Lectors are chosen from among volunteers who can proclaim the Word of God in a meaningful and clear manner. Ministries of Hospitality They greet people as they enter the church and make them feel welcome. They serve at the Mass that they would normally attend. Ministry to the Deaf Every Sunday 8:00 A.M. Liturgy at St. Peter’s will be interpreted for the deaf. Music Ministry The St. Peter's Adult Choir sings at the 9:30 a.m. Masses on Sundays and other occasions. Some members of the choir help at other Masses and funerals. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings in the choir loft of the Church. We always welcome new members who have a desire to sing to the praise of God. The director/organist is Mr. George Shnob (563-7020). We are fortunate to have a majestic, newly refurbished, circa 1895 Hutchin Pipe Organ in excellent condition. In addition, for special occasions we call on the skills of professional musicians to enhance both the organ and the choir with different instruments or voice. The Contemporary Choir provides spirited music for our Sunday 11:00 a.m. liturgy and for other occasions. The director of this group is Mrs. Permelia Provost (561-7206). Sponsor Couple In preparation for marriage, the engaged couple meets with a married couple of the parish to aid in their preparation for marriage. This ministry aims at small group discussion to help those preparing for marriage better understand various aspects of marriage. Ushers The ushers take up the collection and assist in other ways before, during and after Mass. They commit themselves to serve at the Mass they would regularly attend. If you are interested in serving in a ministry, joining the choir or helping out in any of these ministries please contact the rectory 563-1692 or Email spchurch1692@primelink1.net |
