Baptism of InfantsWe see this
sacrament as an initiation and welcoming into the Christian Community. It
is an important step taken by parents and entails serious responsibility.
We attempt to help parents by seeing them privately and requiring their
participation in a preparation session prior to the celebration of the
sacrament. Baptisms are held one Sunday a month at 12:00 p.m. or at a time
set with the priest or deacon. Call the rectory office for arrangements.
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
Adults seeking initiation into the Catholic Church are
welcome to the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Following an
initial evangelization period, interested adults are paired with sponsors,
instructed in principles of the Catholic Faith, and invited to commit
themselves to membership in the Church. The process includes continuing
activities and support beyond baptism. If interested in participating in
this exciting ministry, call Rianna Meinert, Director of Religious
Education at 563-3278.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The scheduled time is Wednesday from 12:30
- 1: p.m. & Saturday from 2:45 - 3:30 p.m.
During certain liturgical seasons, communal penance services are held. Of
course, anyone's confession will be heard at any time upon request.
Sacrament of Eucharist: First Communion
First Confession and First Communion are important
steps for a youngster, and it is equally important that the parents be
involved. Registration is taken in the Fall for classes. Some of the
sessions require participation of the parents. More information is
available by calling Rianna Meinert, Director of Religious Education
at 563-3278.
Sacrament of Confirmation for Young People
After registration each September, sessions are held
on Sundays for the candidates until the celebration of the sacrament in the
late Spring. Sophomores or students 15 years or older are
eligible. For more information, contact Therese
Moen, Youth Director at 563-3278.
Sacrament of Confirmation for Adults
Classes are held in the Winter of every year for those
adults who are baptized Catholics but lacking the Sacrament of
Confirmation. The classes meet weekly until the time of the celebration of
the sacrament in the late Spring. Contact Rianna Meinert, Director of Religious Education
at 563-3278.
Sacrament of Marriage
At St. Peter's, we believe that marriage is a
commitment that affects the entire community, as well as the couple itself.
We also know that a Christian marriage requires work. In our marriage
preparation, we strive to help engaged couples deal with important issues
that they will need to face in their marriage. This is done in the context
of meetings both with the priest and with a sponsor couple. We hope that
through these meetings, marriage might be seen as a sign of Christ's love
for the world and that the parish can be support and nourishment for those
entering this special relationship. The engaged couple should contact the
parish priest at least six months before marriage. Those who would like
help by being a sponsor couple (in their own home at their convenience) are
invited to call the parish office.
Sacrament of the Sick
This sacrament is offered to the homebound of the
parish on a regular basis or upon request. In addition, parish celebrations
of the anointing of the sick are held each Fall and Spring.
